Delta Gamma

Letter from Recruitment Chair

Welcome to Delta Gamma at the University of Alberta’s website! I am so happy that you stumbled upon this site and are interested to know more about Delta Gamma and recruitment.

My name is Brenna Allan and I am the current Vice President: Membership for the Beta Beta chapter of Delta Gamma. I hope that our website will help give you insight into our history, events, philanthropy, and most of all, the passion that each one of us have for this organization. Delta Gamma has helped each of us to grow and thrive in university, and gives us a home on a large campus like the U of A. But going beyond just university life, Delta Gamma brings together like-minded women who are free to be themselves and are loved for it.

Going through recruitment is how you can join this amazing group of women! The recruitment process allows you to have a chance to meet current members of Delta Gamma and get a little taste for what we’re all about. Don’t get me wrong, it is stressful at times. You might feel like you need to change yourself, or put on an act just for people to like you. But don’t worry and just be yourself, we want to get to know the real you.

Panhellenic Recruitment at the University of Alberta gives university women the opportunity to find a home and grow in a sorority here. It gives you a chance to explore each of the four Panhellenic sororities, find out what being in a sorority is really like, and helps you figure out if Greek life is the perfect thing for you. If you are interested in what sororities at the U of A have to offer, or have any questions about the process of formal recruitment, then please come visit us at Clubs Fair starting in September, or check out the website, http://www.ualbertasororities.com/.

Something I wanted to address is how important diversity and inclusion is for us as a sisterhood. In recent years, providing a home to women who come from different backgrounds, ethnicities, sexual orientations, etc., has been at the forefront of our recruitment goals and values. We as a sisterhood are able to uplift voices of those who tend to not be heard, as well as give home to those who feel as if they don't belong at times. Delta Gamma is a mosaic of strong, empowered & intelligent women, and our chapter is passionate in continuing to reflect this through the faces of women outside of the typical sorority stereotype.

Delta Gamma truly feels like home to me, and I hope that going through recruitment, you will find your home too. Just remember to be yourself, have an open mind, follow your heart, and have fun! I can’t wait to meet all of you beautifully amazing people who will be participating in recruitment this fall. We are all excited to be able to share our DG stories with you and show you why we are proud to be Delta Gammas.

Wishing you all the best, and hopefully see you soon!
